Kid Mitts

I originally made these for my 4 year old daughter. My almost-2 year old tried them on and they actually fit her pretty well, they were just too long. I later made these for my 4 year old son and they fit great for him as well.





materials:
-60 yards or less of worsted weight wool
-size US #7 circulars (I use magic loop)
-2 stitch markers

CO: cast on
k2p2: knit 2, purl 2
pm: place marker
m1: make 1 stitch
sm: slip marker
st st: stockinette stitch (knit every row)
BO: bind off

CO 24 using long tail cast on, join in the round.

Cuff:

Rounds:
1-5: k2p2
6-13: st st (knit less rows for a smaller size)

Thumb gusset:
14: k5, pm, m1, k1, m1, pm, k18 (26st)
15: knit
16: knit to marker, sm, m1 st after marker, knit to marker, m1, sm, k18.
17-20: repeat rounds 15 & 16 two more times until there are 9st between markers.
21: k5, remove marker, BO 9, remove marker, k18 (23st on needles)
22: k5, m1, k18 (24st)
23-29: st st (knit less rows for a smaller size)
30-34: k2p2
35: BO




Notes for a bigger size, this fits an 8 year old, 10 year old, and 13 year old.
